Competition

Hatch Farm Stables also produces competition horses and ponies. We all regularly compete. Our most successful discipline is scurry driving. Jemma and her ponies Piglet and Eeyore are the current scurry driving champions, winning the title for the 6th time at the Horse of the year show which is held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Jemma also has a pair of ponies, called Tigger and Owl. They had a successful first season and this year, on there second season, they won both of their classes at the horse of the year show.

Our third pair of ponies is Branston and Pickle. They are driven by Alison and were reserve champion in 2013. Many of you will have ridden them before in your lesson!

Sophie is an important member of the team. She is the groom on the back of the cart and is responsible for keeping it balanced and making sure it doesn’t tip over!

Our more experienced helpers on the yard also help with the fittening of the ponies and the training at home.

You can see our scurry ponies competing at many of the county shows including Surrey County, South of England and Hickstead. As well as competing nationally they also travel to shows in Europe.

If you would like to find out more about scurry driving and how to get involved or support our team please contact us and we would be delighted to discuss the many benefits and opportunities with you.

Sophie also enjoys show jumping and regularly competes on Sundays at local shows.
